Nahil Abualburak of New Jersey views property formerly owned by Tina Strom on Thursday. Abualburak was the top bidder for the home and property in a public auction run by the Department of the U.S. Treasury.
New Jersey pizza shop owner Nabil Abualburak has visions of his seven children frolicking over the scenic 6.1 acres of 479 Mount Olivet Road.
“What’s in the past is in the past,” Abualburak said Thursday, minutes after successfully bidding $160,000 to buy the storied home where homicide suspect Hugo Selenski lived.
Abualburak plans on doing a “full-renovation” of the home before living there.
Abualburak was slightly familiar with the home’s past. But paying $160,000 for the home was a steal compared to real estate prices in his hometown of Lodi, N.J., he said. There, he would have to pay about $500,000 for Selenski’s old ski-lodge-style home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, he said. And that’s without the 6 acres, he said. “I like the lot, the size of the area.”
Abualburak plans on calling 479 Mount Olivet Road home. He will commute back and forth to his New Jersey pizza shop, he said. “This is gonna be my home sweet home.”
